JHU Alumni Reconnect in India

The recent visit to India by the Johns Hopkins University delegation, led by President Ronald Daniels, provided an excellent opportunity for India-based alumni to reconnect with their alma mater. Alumni gathered in New Delhi on November 18 and in Mumbai on November 23, each event offering a chance to reconnect, share stories, and discuss how JHU alumni are contributing to the university’s growing partnerships in India.

On November 18, the university hosted an anchor event in New Delhi, featuring a panel discussion on “Unlocking India’s Potential Through U.S.-India Higher Education Partnership” featuring eminent panelists from India’s leading education and industry sectors. Afterward, a gala dinner and networking event took place—proof that even with Monday drudgery and a less-than-ideal AQI, JHU alumni still make time to get together and celebrate.

A special video spotlight featured Damini Agarwal, CTO of Infinite Biomedical Technologies, who shared how being a JHU alum has opened doors for her, helping her bring advanced bionic arm technology from Baltimore to Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Her work has made this life-changing prosthetic accessible to people in these regions. She highlighted how alumni are connecting knowledge across borders, driving India’s growth, and strengthening the India-Hopkins partnership.

In Mumbai, the alumni and JHU community came together for an informal dinner meeting centered on fostering innovation and strengthening collaborations between JHU and India, particularly in global health and AI. It was a pleasure to meet with alumni, faculty, and industry leaders to explore future opportunities.

Reconnecting with Hopkins alumni, faculty, and partners in India reinforced the lasting legacy of JHU and the exciting potential of innovation in shaping a better future. We look forward to continuing to build these meaningful partnerships.
