Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a viral disease which has become a worldwide pandemic causing a global public health crisis of unprecedented magnitude. The clinical spectrum of COVID-19 ranges from asymptomatic carriers who can transmit the virus, to a mild clinical upper respiratory infection which can progress to acute respiratory distress syndrome in critically ill patients with at that point, a high fatality rate. The basic premise of my work is the availability of a system that can continuously integrate clinical data acquired during the course of standard patient care that will learn to distinguish which patients will require critical care versus those who will not.
