Our group helps countries prevent cholera and other infectious diarrhoeal diseases through the development and the effective use of vaccine and improved water sanitation interventions. Inexpensive oral vaccines for cholera are now available, but need to be targeted to be most cost effective. We are in the preclinical phase of promising vaccines for enterotoxigenic E coli and shigellosis and hope to start phase one studies soon.
