Ellen J. MacKenzie, PhD ’79, ScM ’75, is a renowned researcher on improving trauma care systems and policy, and the current dean of the Bloomberg School. She has contributed to the development and evaluation of tools for measuring both the severity and outcome of injury which have been used to evaluate the organization,, financing and performance of trauma systems and rehabilitation services. Her research has advanced the knowledge of the economic and social impact of injuries and our understanding of how personal and environmental factors influence recovery and return to work.
