As director of international programs in the Johns Hopkins University’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations, Hugh Sullivan leads the university and medical institutions’ international fundraising and external affairs. Hugh brings nearly 15 years in professional and volunteer roles related to business development and education, with over nine years at Johns Hopkins in progressive fundraising roles. Previously, he was Director of Advancement for Asia at the Johns Hopkins Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Hugh worked before that as an engineer in New Orleans and supported the international expansion of a private U.S. engineering company in Africa and the Middle East. He also spent two years teaching English in Hunan Province, People’s Republic of China, as a fellow with the Yale-China Association. Hugh holds a Master of International Public Policy degree in economics from Johns Hopkins SAIS and a Bachelor of Arts in Classics (Latin) from Yale University. He is proficient in Mandarin Chinese.
