Girish and Himangi Rishi Student Travel Awards – 2024
Award Details
- Funding will only be released upon the travel approval obtained by the Center for Global Health based on the awardee meeting all GHEFP requirements.
- The process of the travel grant is competitive, so applicants are not guaranteed an award.
- Once offered an award, candidates must complete a GKII Acceptance and Undertaking Form to confirm acceptance of the grant, student requirements, and joint fellow status.
Fellows will be asked to provide a summary of the research project and/or Scope of Work during the Travel experience to include the following information:
- Overview
- Objectives
- Timeline
- Methodology of Research or Field Project(s)
- Specific need for the joint work.
- Outcomes expected and its relation to present state of knowledge in the field.
- Mutual scientific benefit accrued to both sides.
- Follow up activities that may emerge towards a sustained collaboration.
Reporting Requirements
Travel exchange award recipients will have the following obligations upon receiving this travel award:
- Provide GKII with a Student Travel Exchange Awardee Authorization and Undertaking Form to accept the travel award and terms.
- Provide GKII with a written statement of objectives prior to receiving funds, in a defined format.
- Complete GKII Program Evaluation Survey (required) and Exit Interview (optional) within one month of program completion.
- Provide GKII with a written summary of results within one month of complete expenditure of funds (not more than 5 pages) and submit at least 2 high-resolution photographs and captions. Allow GKII the rights to publish said photographs along with appropriate photo credit attribution.
- Be invited to do a lightning presentation (15 minutes) at the GKII event to summarize research results and potential (date TBA).

Funding Details
- GKII will grant awards as fellowship stipends in compliance with all relevant University policies.
- International students are advised that the award may be taxable, and a portion of the award could be withheld upon disbursement.
- A grant amount will be directly transferred by GKII to the division managing the student selection process for awardee payment. Questions related to awardee payments may be directed to: [email protected].
