Johns Hopkins University’s Largest-Ever Delegation is Heading to India
The Gupta-Klinsky India Institute is thrilled to announce that Johns Hopkins University is embarking on its largest-ever delegation to India from November 17–23, 2024. This visit marks a milestone in the university’s century-long partnership with India – a collaboration built on addressing public health challenges, advancing research, and making long-lasting impact on our communities.
Strengthening a Historic Partnership
For decades, India and Johns Hopkins have fostered a partnership spanning health, policy, finance, and technology. We’re now strengthening this relationship to build connections, inspire new ideas, and shape a future where our work together improves lives not only in India but globally. The delegation, including President Daniels and university leaders, will travel to four key cities – New Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, and Mumbai – chosen for their unique roles in education, technology, health research and business.
Our journey begins in New Delhi, where over four eventful days, President Daniels and our team will engage with representatives from both the Indian and U.S. governments, as well as business and academic leaders.
On November 18, we invite you to join President Ronald J. Daniels and a delegation from Johns Hopkins at the Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, for an evening of celebration that highlights the rich history, current impact, and future possibilities of the Hopkins-India partnerships.
With participants from academia, government, public health and the Johns Hopkins community, this event will offer a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, reconnect with fellow alumni, network with key partners, and explore new avenues of collaboration. The detailed agenda is given below:
- 4:00 – 5:30 PM: Show & Tell – Presentations on key Hopkins projects in India
- 6:00 – 7:00 PM: Remarks by President Ronald J. Daniels, followed by a panel discussion on “Unlocking India’s Potential Through U.S.-India Higher Education Partnerships”
- 7:00 – 7:30 PM: Announcement of Key Initiatives
- 7:30 PM: Networking Dinner
This event is open to Johns Hopkins faculty, alumni, students, and partners. Kindly RSVP.
Following Delhi, the delegation will travel to three more cities, each one representing a unique strength and opportunity for collaboration with Johns Hopkins:
Bengaluru: Known as India’s tech capital, Bengaluru is the ideal setting to discuss collaborations in Data Science, AI, Engineering, and Health Technology. Join us at the Bengaluru Tech Summit on November 20, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM (IST), where Johns Hopkins leaders Dean Ed Schlesinger and Dean Alex Triantis will deliver keynotes, and faculty experts Dr. Sridevi Sarma and Dr. Ritu Agarwal will participate in panel discussions.
Pune: Pune has long been a vital partner in our infectious disease and public health initiatives. Our efforts here will focus on improving community health through research and initiatives that address both local and global health challenges.
Mumbai: Our final stop is Mumbai, India’s business and financial capital. Here, we aim to establish new connections in business, finance, and entrepreneurship, fostering innovative solutions that drive economic growth and enhance health outcomes for India.
