GKII’s Education Liaison Service Shares Education Market Insights
On September 25, 2025, the GKII India Education Liaison Service (ELS) hosted a discussion with Keystone Education Group, a global leader in student recruitment and digital marketing for higher education. This was the 12th GKII ELS meeting organized by Beth Romanski, GKII’s U.S.-based Program Manager, who leads GKII’s Education . Previous meetings were hosted with Study Portals and IDP, key players in the international education recruitment.
In the latest session attended by JHU representatives University-wide, Keystone Education Group representatives presented on the perception students from India had of the United States as a leading destination for higher education, as well as new engagement metrics. Their analysis shared data and survey findings regarding current Indian student recruitment trends, communication behaviors, and motivations for studying abroad.
Key takeaways from the data showed the continued importance students place on -career opportunities, transparent cost information, and communication through platforms WhatsApp, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Timely and personalized responses from universities are critical, with nearly half of students surveyed expecting replies to inquiries within 24 hours. The group also shared broader shifts in student behavior, where interest in online-only programs has declined globally.
“This meeting, and others like it, are critical steps in advancing the mission of the Gupta-Klinsky India Institute to bring timely insights on India’s education landscape to our internal JHU partners seeking to expand India education opportunities. By leveraging timely data and insights, we can tailor our strategies for supporting students from India and create deeper, more impactful education collaborations between Hopkins and India institutions,” Romanski said. “These conversations enable us to stay ahead of trends and offer better support for the needs of our JHU administrators, faculty, students, and reinforce GKII’s strong connection to India and institutional partners.”
Building on the discussion, ELS plans to convene more sessions with external experts and host opportunities where internal divisions can share knowledge to break down institutional silos, with the goal of creating a strategic “one JHU” platform across the University. An additional goal is to serve as a key link between India and Hopkins, providing a welcoming and respectful service for prospective and current students, India institutional partners, and JHU affiliates, where students and collaborators from India know their presence and thoughts are welcome and necessary in the dynamic and complex international higher education sphere.
