Gupta-Klinsky India Institute (GKII) at Johns Hopkins University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Communications Consultant with strong graphic designing skills and social media management expertise.

Background
The Gupta-Klinsky India Institute (GKII) at the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) seeks a Communications Consultant. GKII was established in 2020 as a multidisciplinary organization focused on promoting Johns Hopkins University partnerships with Indian institutions to collaborative address issues of national importance to India and to derive implications for global health settings. GKII’s mission is to mobilize Johns Hopkins faculty, staff, students, and alumni to work with partners in India to improve society through research, education, policy, and practice. The Gupta-Klinsky India Institute at Johns Hopkins University pursues its mission in four strategic directions:

Reporting
The Communication Consultant will work in close coordination with the Baltimore based Communications Specialist of GKII, and report to the Executive Director and Deputy Director of GKII.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in raising JHU’s brand visibility in India
- Participate in developing a comprehensive communications strategy with GKII leadership and the JHU communications team for effective communication within India and the US.
- Collaborate with JHU and India project teams to create diverse content for GKII platforms, including reports, fact sheets, briefs, social media creatives, and website collaterals.
- Organize and manage both in-person and virtual events for GKII, including coordinating high-level visits by JHU leadership to India
- Secure media coverage to enhance JHU’s visibility in India.
- Track and optimize social media performance on GKI handles, implementing targeted campaigns to increase engagement across platforms (LinkedIn and Twitter) and various target groups.
- Contribute to the development of the Annual GKII Report and project activity communications.
- Maintain a planning and production calendar to ensure efficient execution of communication efforts.
- Ensure all products and promotional efforts comply with JHU branding guidelines.
- Monitor news and identify captivating stories to create engaging and informative written and visual content that aligns with GKII’s communication objectives.
- Develop communications materials specifically tailored for India-based alumni and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Previous experience of 2-5 years in a communication or marketing role.
- Graphic designing skills for social media and report creatives are required.
- Broad knowledge of communications platforms, trends, and best practices.
- Strong country communications experience and understanding of the health sector, media environment, and culture
- Ability to work across times zones, attending late evening meetings in IST
- Demonstrated creative storytelling and presentation skills and ability to produce clear, engaging content
- Event planning and management in person and virtual
- Strong interpersonal skills and personal presence/credibility with senior stakeholders
- Ability to work collegially and collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently and produce high-quality results
- Experience working in a higher-education environment is helpful
Special Skills and Abilities Required: Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
Working Conditions:
The Communication Consultant will work in a hybrid arrangement. with weekly meetings in New Delhi. The role may require you to travel occasionally for program-related activities.
