Sangeeta Koilada, a senior at Johns Hopkins University majoring in Biomedical Engineering, shared that her journey in data analysis began with a handful of introductory courses on Coursera, which she undertook to acquaint herself with the topic. As her desire to delve deeper into the field grew, Sangeeta joined GKII over the summer as a Data Analyst . “I thought this internship would be a great opportunity to apply what I learned and see how these skills can be used in the actual workforce,” she said. “I know I can take with me all the skills that I learned from this internship. Not just the hardcore data analysis skills, but also learning how to collaborate and work with people in a workforce would definitely benefit me when I actually start working.”

Building a Cohesive Database for Enhanced Understanding

Sangeeta is currently working to enhance the accessibility of project information and grant details on GKII’s website. “The goal is to create a user-friendly webpage that provides easy access to various projects, information about available grants, ongoing research, funding sources, and related details,” she said. “I work with a team of individuals involved in different aspects of the project. Within our team, my role primarily involves streamlining and consolidating data to contribute to the creation of a cohesive database,” Sangeeta added.

Sangeeta’s Harmonious Pursuits

Outside of being a talented data analyst, Sangeeta is making waves as a Junior Soprano in Johns Hopkins’s very own South Asian Acapella team, Kranti. “I like singing Bollywood music and have been learning Hindustani classical music for a really long time now,” she shared. This interest prompted her to join Kranti (Hindi for Revolution), which aims to seamlessly blend both traditional and modern Indian music with Western songs.
